Take a road trip with the undead . . . in this latest in the Argeneau series by New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands
For Basha Argeneau, anything is better than facing her estranged family. Even hiding out in sweltering southern California. But when a sexy immortal in black shows up determined to bring her back to the clan, she’ll do anything to keep far, far away from the past she can’t outrun.
Marcus Notte isn’t here to play games—especially not with someone as crazy as the infamous blonde. Asked by Lucian Argeneau to bring her back for questioning, Marcus is determined to carry out Lucian’s request—no matter how the seductive little mind-reading vamp feels about it.
Basha doesn’t mind fighting fire with fire, especially with a hot immortal involved. But if he wants to take her away, he’ll have to catch her first . . . http://www.lynsaysands.net/books/argeneau/vampiremostwanted.html
How does Lynsay continue to make each new novel in this long standing series fresh and exciting? Other writers start phoning it in but Lynsay t seems to have an endless supply of Argeneau plots and characters up her sleeves.
This one is different because the fugitive in this story is a woman; and Basha is a woman with a fascinating back story that is so surprising I just didn’t see it coming. We also meet some of the most depraved characters in the series. And, while they are uber creepy they are also important for keeping the entire story and series edgy.
There were some parts that I think would be hard to get without any prior knowledge of the series, like the difference between immortals with fangs and those without.
Basha’s and Marcus’ love story is hot and sexy, but much more fraught with difficulties than we often see in Sands’ series. A lot of that is based in what would be spoilers so you’ll have to trust me when I say it is different. And the plot is complicated and I occasionally had some issues with clarity. But, it is still a must read in one of my VERY favorite series, and it is a really suspenseful plot as well — it’s hard to see how a a happily ever after ending will happen.
I like the way the immortals are matched up by their nanotechnology with a person who is his or her perfect compliment. And the nanos are the absolutely best rationale for vampires I have ever found. It’s like a dating service and no aging event in one microscopic machine design! Even my physicist husband likes it. It’s great because that non-magical rationale allows me a little more suspension of disbelief. I totally think the Argeneau series is a must read if you like sexy, funny, but not always light, PNR.
