She’s the one fire he can’t put out…
Jamie Lansing has had it bad for firefighter Smith Grayson for as long as they’ve been friends. Yes, he’s ridiculously charming and she might stare a little too long at his abs, but his dirty-talking, rough-around-the-edges ways aren’t for her. Plus, she knows that as a serial dater, Smith isn’t the type to settle down. But then a terrible, fantastic, mind-blowing mistake leaves her body craving more than one night.
Smith Grayson has only ever had eyes for one woman in town—his best friend Jamie. But convincing her a relationship between them will work is next to impossible with her refusing to see beyond his past. But when she asks for a week of no-strings-attached sex to get him out of her system, Smith knows this is his one chance to prove he’s not just the man she needs in her bed, but the man she needs in her life.
This was a sexy, fast read. I like a book where someone who is a little timid breaks out of their shell. And that’s what happens here between the two love interests, Jamie and Smith. They do engage in some down and dirty, but Jamie is a particularly unusual person with interests that I would more closely associate with a library or tea shop than working in bar management. This probably says more about me than the character.
It sounds like the two love interests. Jamie and Smith are honestly attracted to each other, but outside of the initial attraction and a realization that they are both nice, caring individuals. it doesn’t sound like there is a lot to keep them in a relationship once all the hot and heavy wears off; especially when Jamie is a little to quick to come to conclusions based on her sister’s experience. The “kinky” sexy times and a relationship with a guy she doesn’t share a lot with really challenges her; and there’s a real trust issue based on her sister’s life.
Those sexy times are nice, not as wild as some of what I have read but a good starting point for a reader new to erotic romance. The “dirty talking” and “rough stuff” is pretty mild to my rather jaded reading eye. It is quick, dirty and fun though — you have to start somewhere!
