Submitting her body was only the beginning.

Abby King didn’t know true passion until she gave herself to Nathaniel West, one of New York City’s most eligible bachelors and desired Dominants. Now, on the eve of her marriage, she realizes all her dreams are coming true. And with a romantic honeymoon getaway planned at a secluded Swiss chalet, she’s sure Nathaniel will find even more fantasies to fulfill…

Nathaniel never thought he’d settle down until Abby broke down his barriers and changed his plans. With their wedding only weeks away, he can barely wait to possess her completely—heart, body, and soul—and show her the true meaning of being both a wife and a submissive.

Only Abby has one more challenge in store before she becomes his: no sex and no collar for one month before the wedding. Nathaniel is willing to give it a shot but he has one scandalous stipulation—once that month is up, anything goes…

square "my take"This was a lighter side of the relationship between Abby and Nate as they celebrate their wedding and have a glorious honeymoon. I liked how Abby explores her submissive nature deeply; examining her needs, desires and limits from different angles and in different ways.  Such a change from when she first started in THE TRAINING where her experiences were fairly earth-shattering. And their relationship is more open and less stressed now that they are truly committed outside a playroom.  And sometimes they even switch it up a bit.

I was able to both read and listen to the novella and that was a new experience. When listening was inconvenient I read and  found the writing and the audio both enjoyable.

I still do find Nathaniel a little wooden, and, there’s something about the way the collaring is emotionally loaded that doesn’t feel sincere to me.  But, there’s some humor as well.  The author inclides some great details of everyday life that do lend the characters some depth. And I like that she doesn’t give every detail of what they are wearing and eating.

The book is read in an alternating first person POV and they had the chapters divided up between William Sharpe reading Nathaniel’s chapters and Angelica Lee reading Abby’s.  What’s different from other two reader books I have listened to is that they are not reading in parts. When in Abby’s chapter, Abby reports Nathaniel saying something it is still read by Angelica.  I preferred this to the readers taking parts; it felt less like a radio drama.
I also find I enjoy audio novellas. As much as I am enjoying the audiobook experience sometimes I don’t want to commit 11 to 45 hours.

If you haven’t read at least some of the other books in the series this one will not be as good an experience; you will miss backstory and seeing the growth of the characters and their relationship. And, the series has grown on me as I have read along.

Very graphic sexually, this is definitely an adult read I enjoyed  a lot!

Nathaniel and Abby have a fabulous skiing honeymoon.  What is your dream honeymoon?  I don’t think we really had one until we went away on our 25th anniversary — but that one, in Mexico, was pretty awesome.
