Plunging Into Challenges

I swore I wasn’t going to do any challenges this year.  But I don’t know why I felt that way. The challenges last year were fun, but I didn’t have time to put the books one by one on my page, on the hosts’ pages, on Facebook, etc.  Sometimes I am just so harried it feels like everything and anything could be the last straw.

I put them on my site and on a Goodreads shelf. And I will send in to the host too at some point.  You do not have to be a blogger to join — just put the books on Goodreads!

I think it may have been the requests to  put the challenge information on all my social media that turned me off.

But, in the end, I did choose two of the many I saw. Each challenge will have it’s own page above under the Reading Challenges tab in the menu bar

The contemporary Romance Challenge was the first I was personally invited to do and the first I signed up for:

2015 Contemporary Romance Reading ChallengeOn this challenge I am going for the “Grand Slam” of 21 plus Contemporary Romance Books.  I created the icon below to designate the book as one for this challenge.

The Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge  is  hosted by The Book Vixen.

Here’s what she says about it:

Reading Challenge Details:Runs January 1, 2015 – December 31, 2015 (books read prior to 1/1/2015 do not count towards the challenge). You can join anytime before 9/30/2015. Sign up on The Book Vixen’s blog.

The goal is to read as many Contemporary Romance books as you’d like.

Books that qualify for this challenge can be young adult, new adult, or adult. Books can be M/F, M/M, or F/F.

Books must be a work of fiction (sorry, nonfiction does not qualify for this challenge).

Romances with the following elements do not qualify for this reading challenge: paranormal, historical, time-travel, fantasy, science fiction, or mystery/suspense/thriller.

Books can be any format (print, ebook, audio).

SOPHIA'S GRAPHIC FOR LIT PICKERS

Then I saw on Facebook that my pal Sophia Rose had set up a few challenges on her blog One with music was not for me, but when I saw the Literary Pickers Reading Challenge at her site  THE DELIGHTED READER  I knew it was meant for me! I am so stuck on details in books – like I thought her purse was black, Lilacs in Medieval France??

With this challenge you go on a scavenger hunt in books choosing how many items from Sophia’s list you will find as the challenge.  You can only  get one item per book from the list. It just looked like way too much fun!

Here’s what Sophia Rose has to say:

How keen of an observer are you? Good at finding important stuff? Or maybe not, but you just want to participate anyway? This challenge is just a fun way to see if you can find a list of items as you read no matter what romance style you pick up. The reader picks and chooses how many books and what list items they want to find. It can be a commitment to ten reads a year or a hundred. Everyone is welcome to participate.

Level One – Treasure Hunter in Training- 10 items/10 places

Level Two – Garage Sale Guru- 25 items/ 25 places

Level Three -Professional Picker- 50 items/50 places

LITERARY PICKERS BLOG ICONTo the left is the icon I will use to identify books on the blog.

And, here’s the list of items. I think it is 94 all together. It will appear on the challenge page and when I finish an item I will somehow make a note of it.  I am going to “go all the way” with this challenge and find fifty-plus items. You don’t have to be a blogger or have a website to join in, so head over to Sophia’s to sign up!
