My guest today is Renee Charles who “believes that all love is legendary.”
Renee’s own romance and her romance novels have “strange beginnings that lead to passionate endings. Romance with a dark twist.”
Even though the darkness includes such scary creatures as zombies, werewolves, and dragons Renee gets her characters to a happily ever after and leaves the reader sighing.
Renee’s new novella, from Wild Rose Press is SACRIFICE OF A VIRGIN
Rena stands tethered to a post high on a mountain, awaiting the dragon, praying her death will be painless and quick. Although she is meant as a sacrificial virgin, she soon discovers death will not be her fate. Powerful and seductive, the shape-shifting dragon, Marcos, has something far more erotic planned for her.She will fulfill his dark appetites and come to accept her own submissive nature without shame. At the dragon’s instruction, the virgin will explore needs and desires beyond imagination and Rena’s commanding lover will teach her just how wicked she can be.
Renee is giving away a signed copy of her full length novel, an unrelated title, ONLY LOVE SURVIVES.
The Evolution of Kink in the Mainstream Bedroom
Thanks to romance novels and movies like 50 Shades, couples are finding it easier and easier to brave the world of kink. But if you think about it, were they always ‘vanilla’? Do we need the movies to inspire us or just a really good lock on the bedroom door? If you really look at it, mainstream has had an on again, off again affair with kink all along.
Look at Bettie Page for example. She may not have been mainstream in her time, but by the 80’s she was one of the most reinvented models of the art world. Rosemary Rogers made a killing in the 70’s with her scandalous bodice rippers. And for them to be bestselling novels, someone had to have bought them right?
Even I will admit there was a time BK (before kids) I let my hubby blindfold me. But once those kids came… well, let’s just say nobody wants to explain to Jr. why mommy is tied to the bedpost when he runs in after having a nightmare. And him pounding on a locked door while you try desperately to get the knot out of the silk scarf isn’t much better.
So, housewives who were once kinksters become ‘vanilla’. And husbands, who are left to wonder where their kinky lady went, become confused. I submit to you: there is more kink going on between the sheets than we realize and the world is in denial about it.
Why all the smoke and mirrors? Why is 50 shades such a welcome re-introduction to the world of Kink? Because no one, BUT NO ONE is talking about it for fear of being judged. I say learn from those that came before us! Learn from the Bettie’s and the Rosemary’s of the world. You don’t need a movie to say it’s okay to let your freak flag fly. Just invest in a good lock first.
THANKS for the great post and the giveaway. Lots of food for thought!

- Have your kids, parents ever walked in on you in flagrante delicto; have you ever been caught in “the act”?

- What is or would be your “safe word?”
- Vanilla is used to describe non-kinky sexual relationships or sexuality. What flavor would you use to describe yours?
