The preternatural world is changing. After a massive magical throwdown tore apart the established order, the dark elements are rebuilding their ranks unopposed. Celia Wird’s world is changing, too. She’s the mate of the pureblood were Aric, and his Warriors are honor-
bound to protect her family as she and her sisters recover from unimaginable horrors.
Celia hesitates to reveal the true extent of the Wird sisters’ trauma, but they aren’t the only ones keeping secrets: Aric and the werewolf Elders are tracking a stone that grants limitless power. So is a tough coven of witches. Then Misha, a master vampire with his own plans for the stone, sends Celia after it. Can she and the vamps beat both the weres and the witches to the treasure before it falls into the wrong hands?
Fearing for Celia’s safety, Aric begs her to stay out of the hunt. What they don’t realize is that they’re the ones being hunted. But Celia’s ready to prove that she’s not easy prey. http://www.cecyrobson.com/weird-girls-series.html
Okay, I have to be completely honest. I read this book over the holidays immediately after reading Then I waited way too long to write the review. I lost a lot of details. But, I did not like A CURSED EMBRACE all that much and I remarked in that review that this one redeemed the series and tied up a lot of loose ends and fixed some dead ends as well. Aric finally grew a backbone and actually sticks up for Celia without being cowed by the elders. That always bugged me about Aric before. Indeed I never liked Aric that much and he always looks like a not very handsome guy in my mind.
Misha takes a back seat in this volume, and Aric is back in force. The depth of the connection between Celia and Aric is tested. But, we finally get some resolution and it is nice, although not broadcast ahead of time. I felt there was a good resolution in what Cecy tells me is the final episode in Celia’s story. Now the series moves on to another sister!
Celia is a fierce character; the kind you would want on your side. I always liked Celia and feel like Cecy wrote her with sincerity and intensity!
I felt the vampires and the werewolves stay within character with the vampires feeling a little less over the top.
This is a series that I recommend reading in order. It has a lot of heart!
