SUNDAY POST: Ennui of Fall

Today, I am again taking part in  THE SUNDAY POST from The Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a great opportunity to meet up with new, and old  readers, and other bloggers! After you hang out here a while, I hope you’ll check out THE CAFFEINATED REVIEWER ‘s link up.

THE CAFFEINATED REVIEWER'S SUNDAY POST ICON

As fall arrives I feel myself unsettled but, with a sense of ennui. I am restless, but bored — I guess restlessness is a form of boredom. I have to put away my summer frocks and begin wearing jeans again.  I feel the shortness of the days pressing in on me with the weight of the darkness.

My husband left Sunday morning for a flight to Germany.  On arrival on Monday, he had to get in a car and drive to Austria with someone else from his company who had arrived the day before (who did the actual driving, thank goodness).  Meanwhile my friend and I took our college women out for apple picking and lunch.  Neither had been put for it and oh my goodness, you would have thought there was a rock concert as we waited in line forever to checkout. But it was fun and got us all out in the sun and I did not have to nail anything to anything else.

That night I kept track of the eclipse but the moon got quite small by the time it was “bloody.” I found the whole thing to be much like watching paint dry. And, I realized that I am still afraid to sit outside by myself at night.

The rest of the week has been about shingling, Pilates and rain.  It totally POURED on Wednesday resulting in flash floods all across our area.  I knew it was coming and nailed plastic over the areas on the wall of the house I had not gotten shingled yet.

This coming week I am introducing a new feature, ICONOGRAPHIA categorizing and showing all the post/review icons I have made over the past couple of years.  They are sort of a diary of blogging for me so I think this will be a fun way to look at the graphics that take up a lot of time to make.

NEW Icons

Debut_Novel_IconJust this one for THE SISTERS OF VERSAILLES.  It was harder to come up with than you might think.  I first thought debutantes would be good to show, but then realized a picture of a cotillion or debutantes in white dresses moght not graphically register enough. Then I thought of people on a red carpet for opening night.  But I couldn’t really find that either, and it felt more like a premier. So I created a book and put it o the red carpet instead.

Instead of using a artistic metaphor I used a more symbolic representation of the red carpet with beams of light behind it.

NEW BOOKS

I downloaded two new audiobook ARCS releasing in Jenn McKinlay’s Library Lover’s series: BOOK, LINE AND SINKER and  READ IT AND WEEP from Penguin Random House.

Other than that – nada! Yay!

I did buy CARDS AGAINST HUMANITY in a sale on Amazon.  I know….. Not a book, but they contain words!
