Today, I am again taking part in THE SUNDAY POST from The Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a great opportunity to meet up with new, and old readers, and other bloggers! After you hang out here a while, I hope you’ll check out THE CAFFEINATED REVIEWER‘s link up.
Sitting down to a book by a favorite author can be like sitting down with an old friend for a great visit. But, a new author is like getting to know a stranger. I’m not saying every new book will be a new friend but, it’s always interesting to meet new people and books.
Otherwise, I felt a little uninspired last week. I am between paintings and house projects.
BTW: I have also gone to the Pinterest & Google friendly vertical featured image format (the thing at the top of the post). And, for Sunday’s I am doing a conglomeration of the covers or feature logo for the past week.
What do you think? Do you like a standard, recognizable format for the week-in-review and do you like this cover collage?
I was doing some research on a post I am writing and ended up watching a symposium at the Library of Congress entitled WHAT IS LOVE: ROMANCE FICTION IN THE DIGITAL AGE and I was scrubbing my way through the video which included clips from LOVE BETWEEN THE COVERS a documentary by Laurie Kahn about Romance Genre Fiction and at about 4:10 into the video of the symposium, in a clip from the documentary, the old front page of Fangs, Wands and Fairy Dust came up. I don’t Squee! often but you can be sure I did for that! I would really love to buy it
WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEK:
COMING UP THIS WEEK!
M: WHEN A SCOT TIES THE KNOT by Tessa Dare
T: THE SCAM by Janet Ivanovich and Lee Goldberg (Fox and O’Hare)
W: CANDY CORN MURDER by Leslie Meier
TH: MASTERS OF SEDUCTION 2 (anthology)
F: MIDNIGHT BITES 2 novellas by Chloe Neill
Along with my new feature cataloging my icons, I created several new icons for posts.
For “collection” I used part of the graphic for anthology. To me an anthology features different authors and a collection features stories by one author. This was created for my review of SHIFTING SHADOWS.
LITTLE BEACH STREET BAKERY features Puffins and Bread!
Help! I am looking for a Halloween hop if anyone knows of one. I want a traditional hop, not saying I have to give away a particular thing like a new release book or book in a particular genre.
While my husband was away I watched CINDERELLA and really loved the sets and costumes. Lily James and Sophie McShera, both known from Downton Abbey did great jobs with a crappy script. Cate Blanchett was lackluster which is hard to imagine. But it is worth watching just to see the house in which Cinderella’s family lived. I want that house!
We also watched AVENGERS: THE AGE OF ULTRON and I found it wanting. The world building and creature invention was confusing, and the opening sequence looked like the graphics from a video game. What is Black Widow’s power, anyway? And the whole squabbling thing was a do over from the last movie, no?
