As I may have mentioned on FB my husband and I are going to Las Vegas, we are actually on our way today! In preparation for our trip, we were looking at all the sites and resorts: Paris, New York, The Venetian, etc. I began thinking why isn’t there a Regency Era themed resort there? I don’t mean a living history type of affair where the guests have to take on/act/dress the part, as is depicted in the movie Austenland. After all, I didn’t have to wear a toga at Caesar’s Palace, nor speak French at “Paris,” etc.
I wouldn’t want to be Jane Austen, but it could be fun to visit up close – just not too personal. I would demand modern amenities.
Think about it.
What would you call the resort?
For me only the name PEMBERLEY would do!
The resort and casino could have:
Different areas represented: A Country Inn, A Manor House, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace/The Tower of London, Covent Garden, They could recreate Almack’s Pleasure Gardens.
Gambling was HUGE during the Georgian and Regency eras. The resort casino could be modeled on fabulous Gaming Hells!
The Staff could dress in Regency attire, as doe the staff at Caesar’s Palace.
Women’s dresses were low cut enough to rival many of the outfits worn in Caesar’s.
As far menswear goes, tight breeches, or buckskin tights. Whatever Colin Firth was wearing went he went for a swim in the lake at Pemberely.
Shows: Theatre, opera, magic lantern, And like the casino with the pirates (is that Mandalay Bay?) A water show with Mark Darcy coming out of the water…
I think it would be so much fun and I bet Romance Novel Readers would adore it and flock to it in droves.
If someone did build such a place I think I should get a cut!
How do you think it could go? Any ideas?
