The TV show made me want to reread this fabulous book after having read it about 20 years ago. Back then I thought it was the hottest thing I had ever read. What do I think of it now???
A young woman who is also a healer disguises herself as a boy to deliver her mother’s deathbed missive to a Scottish Laird. Set upon by bandits, she’s saved by a Scottish noble. She saves him right back, and he accompanies her on her quest to make good on her mother’s dying wish. They are both surprised by the contents of the scroll she carries and it has far reaching implications.
